The ADC 2027 election plans have faced fresh attention after rival factions of the African Democratic Congress announced separate submissions of candidates’ details to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) — FirstNigerian.com reports.

A faction led by National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe said it uploaded the details of its presidential, vice-presidential and National Assembly candidates on the INEC portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, another faction linked to former Senate President David Mark had earlier made a similar announcement, creating competing claims over the party’s electoral preparations.

The development comes as the ADC continues preparations for the next election cycle amid disagreements over its leadership structure.

Rival ADC Factions Make Separate INEC Claims

According to Nafiu Bala, his faction completed the submission of candidates’ credentials through the INEC portal.

He said the move showed the party’s commitment to protecting the interests of its founding members and strengthening its participation in the 2027 elections.

However, the faction did not reveal the names of the candidates whose details were submitted.

Meanwhile, the David Mark-led faction also announced that it had uploaded the names of its presidential candidate and other candidates for the 2027 elections.

The separate announcements have increased attention on the leadership dispute within the party as both groups continue to present their positions.

ADC Leadership Battle Continues Ahead Of 2027 Election

The ADC 2027 election preparations depend on the party’s internal processes, including candidate selection and submission of required information to INEC.

Therefore, recognition of the party leadership remains important in determining who manages official electoral activities.

INEC will process submissions based on the requirements for recognised political parties and the electoral guidelines ahead of the 2027 polls.

Tambuwal Urges Politicians To Join ADC

Meanwhile, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has called on politicians who want to serve the public to join the ADC.

Tambuwal made the statement while receiving former Tangaza Local Government Area chairman Isa Salihu Kalenjeni into the party after his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said politicians committed to public service should have the courage to leave political parties where they no longer agree with the direction of leadership.
