Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba died at 40 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, months after she spoke about her breast cancer treatment and her return to acting.
Osoba discovered a lump in her breast in late 2024. Medical tests later confirmed cancer, leading to surgery in November 2024 to remove the tumour.
Doctors subsequently found remaining cancer cells and recommended another operation. Her treatment reportedly cost about ₦12 million, prompting the actress to seek financial assistance.
Further scans showed that the cancer had not spread. Osoba underwent radiation therapy and later spoke about the treatment during an August 2025 interview.
She also discussed the effect of the diagnosis on her plans for motherhood, saying doctors had warned that medication could affect her ability to conceive for five years.
“Hearing that at 38 years old was devastating. I couldn’t imagine waiting that long,” Osoba said.
After completing her treatment, Osoba announced her return to the entertainment industry on August 4, 2025.
“After my cancer experience, I’m excited to announce my reintroduction,” she said in a message to her fans.
She said she wanted to use her platform to promote cancer awareness and support others dealing with the condition. She also opened herself up to acting roles, endorsements and event collaborations.
Almost one year later, fellow actor Alesh Sanni announced Osoba’s death in a social media post.
“Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba,” Sanni wrote.
Actress Adeyemo Seilat also mourned Osoba in an Instagram post, writing that she hated hearing about the death of young people.
The cause of Osoba’s death had not been disclosed when her death was announced.
