The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has opened its 2026 recruitment exercise, with vacancies available for veterinary doctors, lawyers, graduates, OND/NCE holders and secondary school certificate holders. Applications opened on July 28, 2026, and will close on August 10, 2026.
The recruitment covers positions under the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Assistant cadres. Shortlisted applicants are scheduled for computer-based testing and interviews on August 15, 2026.
NAQS recruitment 2026 vacancies
NAQS is recruiting for several positions across its cadres.
Superintendent Cadre
The Superintendent Cadre includes three positions:
- Chief Superintendent of Quarantine Cadre (CSQ) – Veterinary Doctors
- Deputy Superintendent of Quarantine (DSQ) – Law
- Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II (ASQ II)
Applicants for the Chief Superintendent position must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from a recognised institution and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
The Deputy Superintendent position requires a first degree in Law or an MSc in another field, together with an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
Applicants for Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II must have a first degree from a recognised higher institution.
Inspectorate Cadre
The Inspectorate Cadre covers Inspector of Quarantine positions from IQ I to IQ III.
Candidates must have an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from a recognised institution.
Assistant Cadre
The Assistant Cadre includes:
- Quarantine Assistant I
- Quarantine Assistant II
- Quarantine Assistant III
Candidates applying for these positions must have SSCE, NECO or GCE O’Level qualifications with at least five credits in not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
NAQS recruitment requirements
Applicants must meet the general conditions set for the recruitment exercise before proceeding with an application.
Candidates must:
- Be Nigerian by birth.
- Have a National Identification Number (NIN).
- Be medically fit.
- Provide a medical fitness certificate from a government hospital.
- Pass a drug test.
- Be of good character.
- Have no criminal conviction.
- Not belong to a secret society or cult.
- Be free from financial embarrassment.
- Be computer literate.
The recruitment notice also sets physical requirements. Male applicants must be at least 1.65 metres tall and have a minimum chest measurement of 0.87 metres, while female applicants must be at least 1.55 metres tall.
Applicants must declare all relevant qualifications during recruitment. NAQS states that certificates or qualifications not declared and accepted at the recruitment centre will not be accepted later in the process.

NAQS recruitment physical requirements
The recruitment notice contains a separate list of physical conditions under its eligibility requirements. It includes certain speech, hearing, vision, limb, skeletal and other medical conditions. The notice also states that pregnancy is a reason for applicants not to apply because of the physical exercise involved in the recruitment process.

What happens after the application?
NAQS says shortlisted applicants will proceed to a computer-based test. The date and time will be communicated to candidates selected for the next stage.
