Enugu Air has warned passengers to expect temporary flight schedule changes after one of its Embraer aircraft left the runway while landing at Benin Airport on Thursday.
The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members evacuated safely without injuries. The Embraer regional jet has since been secured while aviation authorities begin their assessment.
Enugu Air Runway Excursion Prompts Investigation At Benin Airport
The Airline said the runway excursion happened after the aircraft landed at Benin Airport. The airline notified the relevant aviation authorities and said investigators are assessing both the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence.
The carrier added that affected passengers would receive direct updates if schedule adjustments become necessary.
Videos showing the aircraft beside the runway circulated on social media and triggered claims that it had crash-landed. Enugu Air later identified the occurrence as a runway excursion and repeated that no injuries or fatalities occurred.
Authorities have not determined the cause of the incident. The aircraft involved recently joined Enugu Air’s commercial fleet.
