Aliko Dangote will donate one-third of his wealth to charity under a succession plan agreed with his family, his daughter Halima Dangote has revealed. The Dangote charity donation will go to the Aliko Dangote Foundation, with his current $35.1 billion fortune putting the planned allocation at about $11.7 billion.
Halima, a trustee of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, disclosed the arrangement in a Bloomberg interview. She said Dangote’s children and mother support the decision, which forms part of plans for his estate and philanthropic legacy.
Dangote’s wealth stands at about $35.1 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, putting the proposed charitable allocation at roughly $11.7 billion based on his current fortune.
The Aliko Dangote Foundation is expected to receive the charitable portion of the estate. The foundation focuses on areas including health, education and nutrition, while its work has included partnerships on public health programmes and support for vulnerable communities.
Dangote has continued to commit funds to philanthropic programmes during his lifetime. The foundation launched a ₦1 trillion education fund in December 2025 to support more than 1.3 million vulnerable Nigerian students through scholarships and programmes covering STEM, technical and vocational education and girls’ education.
The foundation also supports African leadership development through its partnership with the World Economic Forum. The partnership announced eight 2026 Aliko Dangote Fellows in May, taking the fellowship’s total number of supported young African leaders to more than 130 over 14 years.
Halima’s disclosure places the proposed charitable allocation within Dangote’s family succession arrangements rather than as a separate donation made immediately. The amount will depend on the value of his estate when the succession plan takes effect
