Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 15.43 per cent in July 2026, from 15.91 per cent in June, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The agency released the figure in its July 2026 Consumer Price Index report on Monday.
The latest figure represents a 0.48 percentage-point decline from June. It also marks a fall from the 24.94 per cent recorded in July 2025.
The NBS said, “In July 2026, the Headline inflation rate stood at 15.43%, down from 15.91% in June 2026 and stood at 24.94% in the same month of the preceding year (July 2025).”
On a month-on-month basis, headline inflation stood at 1.57 per cent in July, compared with 1.66 per cent in June. The NBS said the July figure was 0.09 percentage points lower than the June rate.
However, food inflation recorded a sharper monthly increase during the month. Food inflation stood at 5.56 per cent month-on-month in July, up from 3.75 per cent in June.
Year-on-year, food inflation reached 20.31 per cent in July, compared with 17.52 per cent in June and 26.20 per cent in July 2025.
The NBS also reported that core inflation stood at 14.97 per cent in July 2026.
