No.

Is 900001 the ZIP Code for Nigeria?
No.

Lagos does not have one postcode for every address.
Different locations in Lagos use different postcodes, so the correct code depends on the particular address.

NIPOST is introducing the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode, an 11-character system designed to identify addressable locations.

The new system uses five levels: state, Local Government Area, district, area and building.
NIPOST’s platform gives an example in the format FC 02 A09 DB 09.
The new digital postcode is separate from the traditional six-digit numeric postcode.
As of 31 August 2026, NIPOST lists 1 October 2026 as the nationwide launch date for the new digital postcode.
For an ordinary website field labelled ZIP Code, Postal Code or Postcode, enter the six-digit Nigerian postcode unless the organisation specifically asks for the new digital postcode.

Does Abuja Count as a State?
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is not one of Nigeria’s 36 states.
Abuja is located within the Federal Capital Territory.
When an online form provides Federal Capital Territory as an option, select it instead of selecting a Nigerian state.
Is a Postcode the Same as an LGA?
No.
A postcode identifies a postal location, while a Local Government Area (LGA) identifies an administrative area.
