Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu face stronger competition in the 2026/27 Super Lig Golden Boot race after several major forwards joined Turkish clubs.

Onuachu finished the 2025/26 season as the league’s top scorer with 22 goals for Trabzonspor, while Osimhen scored 12 goals for Galatasaray.

The Nigerians had already shared the scoring prize across successive seasons, with Osimhen taking the 2024/25 award before Onuachu finished top in 2025/26.

Now, Mohamed Salah, Romelu Lukaku and Mason Greenwood have added more established attacking options to the Super Lig. Greenwood joined Fenerbahçe after scoring 25 Ligue 1 goals for Marseille in the 2025/26 campaign, while Salah moved to Trabzonspor.

Meanwhile, Onuachu expects competition with Osimhen to continue. The Trabzonspor striker said: “There will always be competition. Competition adds something to you.”

He also spoke about the relationship between the two Nigerian forwards, saying: “We both congratulate each other.”

Onuachu now enters the new campaign as the reigning Super Lig Golden Boot holder after scoring 22 goals in 30 league appearances.

Osimhen, meanwhile, will attempt to reclaim the award after finishing fourth in last season’s scoring chart with 12 goals.

With Greenwood at Fenerbahçe and Salah joining Onuachu at Trabzonspor, the new Super Lig campaign gives Osimhen and Onuachu another battle for the league’s top-scoring prize.
