Chelsea have tied Pedro Neto to a new contract until 2032 after Manchester City showed interest in the Portugal winger during the summer transfer window. The agreement includes an option for another year, while Chelsea have also increased his salary.
Neto attracted interest from several Premier League clubs before the transfer window closed, with Manchester City among those considering a move. The 26-year-old instead chose to continue under head coach Xabi Alonso.
That decision followed a strong start to the season, with Neto scoring twice in five appearances. He also scored the goal that completed Chelsea’s comeback against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.
Neto joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £54 million in August 2024. According to Chelsea, he has since made 108 appearances and recorded 40 goals and assists.
His versatility has given Alonso several options in attack. Neto can operate on either wing, while the manager has also used him at wing-back and in central attacking positions.
Neto has contributed to Chelsea’s recent trophy wins since his arrival. He helped the club win the UEFA Conference League and scored three goals during their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in 2025.
After signing the deal, Neto spoke about his relationship with the club. “It’s an unbelievable moment,” he said. “From when I arrived, I have always felt like the people here helped me a lot. I feel like home here; I feel like I want to achieve more things here.”
Chelsea have also improved the contracts of João Pedro, Reece James and Moisés Caicedo. According to the Guardian, James has a deal until 2032, while Caicedo’s contract runs until 2033.
The development comes after Enzo Fernández left Chelsea for Manchester City in a £125 million transfer during the closing stages of the window. Fernández pushed for the move before completing the switch.
Neto will now continue under Alonso after Chelsea rewarded his performances and commitment with improved terms. His agreement includes the option to extend his stay beyond 2032.
