José Mourinho expects Vinícius Júnior to return to Real Madrid training on Monday as Arsenal continue to follow developments around his future.
The Brazil international will report back with Brahim Díaz and Bernardo Silva after their extended break following the World Cup. Mourinho wants the players back as he prepares the squad for the new season.
“On Monday, Vini Jr, Brahim, and Bernardo will arrive,” Mourinho said on Real Madrid’s official website.
Vinícius has a contract with Real Madrid until 2027, while Arsenal have expressed interest in signing the forward. Real Madrid want to keep the 26-year-old, putting the Spanish club’s contract talks at the centre of the transfer story.
Mourinho discussed the situation after Real Madrid drew 2-2 with Fiorentina in their latest pre-season fixture. Endrick and academy player Alexis Ciria gave Madrid a 2-0 lead before Roberto Piccoli and Moise Kean brought Fiorentina level.
Madrid controlled the opening half and created several chances, prompting Mourinho to say his team could have led by three or four goals at the interval. Fiorentina then increased the physical intensity after the break, while Kean tested Madrid’s young defenders.
Endrick also impressed Mourinho after training for only three days before playing more than 70 minutes. The manager praised academy players Joan and Mario for their displays during the match.
Vinícius’ return will strengthen Mourinho’s attacking group as Real Madrid continue their preparations. Arsenal will have to decide whether to pursue the forward while Madrid negotiate his long-term future.
