President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to vacate the court order freezing Osun State’s account, Channels Television reported.
The report comes after the EFCC restricted access to the account linked to Osun State Government funds. The move triggered reactions from officials and legal groups over its impact on the state’s financial activities.
Channels TV reported that Tinubu requested the EFCC to reverse the order following concerns over the account restriction.
The EFCC secured the court order during an investigation into alleged financial transactions involving Osun State. The commission said its action followed procedures connected to its investigation.
The Nigerian Bar Association criticised the freezing of a state government account, saying such actions could affect government operations.
The EFCC, Osun State Government and other parties involved are expected to respond to the latest development.
