Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged voters to support his administration ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, warning against a return of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to power.
Adeleke, who will contest the election on the Accord Party platform after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shared the message on his official X account on Thursday.
The governor accused previous APC administrations in Osun of leaving civil servants with salary challenges and urged voters to remember the impact of those policies before casting their ballots.
“We will not allow the APC to take Osun State back to the days when civil servants had to beg their neighbours for food,” Adeleke wrote.
He also alleged that past APC governments used poverty as a political tool by delaying workers’ full payments and limiting access to basic needs.
“Those who once weaponized poverty by paying workers half salaries, leaving civil servants to struggle to feed their families, and denying our people access to basic necessities are desperate to return to inflict more pain,” he said.
Adeleke asked eligible voters to participate in the election and decide the future of the state through their votes.
“We must never go back to those dark days. On August 15, I urge every eligible voter to send a clear and resounding message that Osun has chosen the path of progress, compassion, and good governance,” the governor added.
The August 15 poll will be Adeleke’s first governorship election contest under the Accord Party after his move from the PDP.
Political parties have continued their campaigns across Osun as candidates seek support from voters before election day.
