Christian Norgaard will undergo an Everton medical on Tuesday before completing his proposed £7 million move from Arsenal.
Everton have agreed a fee of around £7 million with Arsenal for the 32-year-old Denmark international, who joined the Gunners from Brentford last summer for £10 million plus potential add-ons.
Norgaard struggled for regular playing time during Arsenal’s title-winning campaign. He played the equivalent of fewer than 12 full matches across all competitions, which left him behind other midfield options.
Everton have now moved ahead of Crystal Palace, who also showed interest in the midfielder earlier in the transfer window. The Merseyside club want Norgaard to strengthen their midfield following Idrissa Gueye’s departure.
Norgaard also featured during Arsenal’s pre-season preparations. He played in the friendly win over Girona but did not make the squad for the match, while Everton continued negotiations over his transfer.
The proposed sale would allow Arsenal to recover much of the £10 million they paid Brentford for Norgaard only one year ago. The club would also remove his wages from the squad before completing further midfield business.
Arsenal have already agreed another midfield deal, with a medical booked for a separate target as Mikel Arteta continues to adjust his squad.
Norgaard’s exit would therefore give Arsenal another vacancy to manage in midfield as the club works through the final stages of its summer recruitment.
For the midfielder, Everton offer the prospect of more regular Premier League football after a season in which Arsenal limited his opportunities.
The transfer will become official after Norgaard completes his medical and both clubs finish the remaining paperwork.
The move leaves Arsenal focused on their next midfield decision, while Everton prepare to add Norgaard to their squad for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
