Former Nigeria international Victor Anichebe is in talks to buy Bromley FC as the League One club prepares for its first season in England’s third tier.
Anichebe is negotiating with Bromley majority shareholder Robin Stanton-Gleaves over a possible takeover. The club has not announced an agreement.
The talks come after Bromley secured promotion to League One following successive promotions from the National League in 2024 and League Two in 2025.
Bromley have strengthened their squad ahead of the new campaign, signing Victor Adeboyejo after his departure from Luton Town and bringing in Richard Taylor on loan from Bolton Wanderers.
Reports have linked Anichebe to Bromley’s recruitment during the summer, although the club has not confirmed his involvement in the signings.
Victor Anichebe’s career at Everton, West Brom and Sunderland
Anichebe joined Everton’s academy before making his first-team debut in 2006. He later played for West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland during a Premier League career spanning more than 200 appearances.
The striker represented Nigeria 11 times between 2008 and 2011. He scored once for the Super Eagles, finding the net in a 3-0 friendly win over Kenya in 2011.
After ending his playing career, Anichebe moved into business through Lumira Group.
Victor Anichebe’s £20m Bootle investment
Anichebe’s business activities include a proposed £20 million leisure development at Bootle Golf Course in Merseyside.
The project includes plans for a new clubhouse, hotel, padel courts and other leisure facilities.
Anichebe said: “I’m incredibly proud to be leading this investment in Bootle, a place close to my home and heart.”
The Bootle project comes as Anichebe pursues a possible move into English football ownership through Bromley.
Bromley will enter the 2026/27 season in League One after earning promotion from League Two.
Anichebe’s negotiations with Stanton-Gleaves will determine whether the former Everton striker takes control of the club.
