The Women AFCON prize money has increased after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) raised the winners’ award from $1 million to $2 million.
CAF announced the new prize structure before the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where 16 teams will compete for the first time.
First Nigerian learnt that the total Women AFCON prize fund 2026 has also increased from $3.475 million to $5.8 million.
Women AFCON 2026 Prize Money Breakdown
CAF increased the champions’ prize by 100 per cent, giving the winners $2 million.
The runners-up will receive $750,000 after CAF increased the payment by 50 per cent, while the third-placed team will earn a higher reward than the previous edition.
Each of the 16 participating teams will receive $150,000 in participation funding, compared with $125,000 from the last tournament.

CAF Increases WAFCON Prize Fund Ahead Of Morocco Tournament
The 2026 Women AFCON will take place in Morocco from July 25 to August 16, with Rabat and Casablanca hosting matches.
CAF previously increased the winners’ prize from $500,000 to $1 million before the latest adjustment.
The football body said the Women AFCON winners’ prize has moved from $200,000 to $2 million, while the total prize fund has increased from $975,000 to $5.8 million.
