2Baba has a real name, hope you know that, and it’s Innocent Ujah Idibia. He was born on the 18th of September, 1975, in Jos City, Plateau State, Nigeria. His family comes from the Idoma ethnic group from the southern part of Benue State, central Nigeria. That means in 2025, his age will be 50 years old.
He attended Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State. Later, he enrolled at the Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu (IMT), where he studied business administration and management. While he was at IMT in 1996, he began composing jingles and performing at student shows and radio station events. Around that same year, he adopted “Tuface” (also spelt “2Face”) as his stage name.
He completed his studies and relocated to Lagos to pursue a music career. That was how he teamed up with Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo (Blackface Naija/Blackface) and Chibuzor Oji (Faze) to form the group Plantashun Boiz. Tuface later changed his stage name from 2Face Idibia to 2Baba. He is currently based in Lagos.
Early Career & Solo Breakthrough
2Baba, like I already told you, began his musical journey with Plantashun Boiz. This was the starting point of his career.
After Plantashun Boiz disbanded as a group, 2Face launched his solo career in 2004 and began a new career in the music industry.
2Baba Albums
Tuface released his first solo album, Face 2 Face, on 15 May 2004 under Kennis Music. This debut album sold more than two million copies in Nigeria. It had hit tracks such as “African Queen,”. “Ole” is another top track, and “Nfana Ibaga (No Problem)” is another solo hit.
Following the success of his debut album, 2Face dropped his second, Grass 2 Grace, on 8 December 2006. This was his breakout album and included popular songs like “See Me So,” “True Love,” “If Love Is A Crime,” and “4 Instance.”
In December 2008, he released his third solo album, The Unstoppable. This was the first album under his own label. In 2010, he released The Unstoppable International Edition, which was an international re-release with added tracks. Away & Beyond, released on 30 April 2012, featured collaboration works with other talented artists. And on 21 July 2014, 2Face released The Ascension.

In addition to albums, 2Face produced numerous songs that became evergreen hits. “African Queen” from Face 2 Face is regarded as his most iconic song. “Ole” and “Nfana Ibaga (No Problem)” are also celebrated tracks from the same album.
From Grass 2 Grace, songs like “See Me So,” “True Love,” “If Love Is A Crime,” and “4 Instance” were especially influential. Later albums and compilations produced tracks like “Rain Drops,” “Be There,” and “Fly”.

Collaborations / Features
TuFace has worked from highlife with Victor Olaiya to hiplife with V.I.P., to pop, Afropop, R&B, soca, and zouk. He has collaborated with both local Nigerian artists like Sound Sultan, M.I. Abaga, Bracket, Omawumi, and Vector, and international artists such as R. Kelly, T‑Pain, Bridget Kelly, Fally Ipupa, and Machel Montano.
His collaborations often pairs older legends like Victor Olaiya and Sir Victor Uwaifo with contemporary stars like Wizkid and Fally Ipupa. Some collaborations appear on studio albums, while others are standalone singles or features on other artists’ projects.
2004 – Debut Album Face 2 Face
In 2004, TuFace released his first solo album called Face 2 Face. Most of the songs were by himself, but he worked with other artists too. Some of these songs were “Ole” with Freestyle, “Odi Ya” with Blackface, and “Keep On Rockin’ It” with Natives & Lil Seal. These were his first collaborations and helped him start working with other musicians.
2006 – Album Grass 2 Grace and “My Love” ft V.I.P
In 2006, TuFace released the album Grass 2 Grace. This included a very popular song called “My Love” with the Ghanaian group V.I.P. This romantic, cross‑border love song helped him reach more fans in Ghana and audiences outside Nigeria.
2008 – Album The Unstoppable and “Flex” ft R. Kelly
In 2008, TuFace released the album The Unstoppable. Some songs had other artists. “Flex” was supposed to be with R. Kelly and Natz, but people argue if it really happened because R. Kelly later said he didn’t record it with TuFace. Other tracks included “Enter the Place” with Sound Sultan, “Take It Back” with Cartier, and “So Proud (Remix)” with Chaka Demus & Pliers.
2010 – Collaboration with M.I Abaga on “Nobody”
In 2010, TuFace worked with M.I Abaga on the album MI 2: The Movie. He sang on one of M.I’s songs called “Nobody.” In this song, M.I raps and TuFace handles the hook. The song talked about fame, criticism, and staying true.
2010 – Bracket ft TuFace on Remember (Yori Yori Remix)
Also in 2010, on June 10, Bracket released Remember (Yori Yori Remix) featuring TuFace. This remix refreshed the hit “Yori Yori” and combined Bracket’s group vocals with TuFace’s soulful singing.
2012 – Album Away & Beyond and “Rainbow (Remix)” ft T‑Pain
In 2012, TuFace released the Rainbow (Remix) featuring T‑Pain on the album Away & Beyond. This remix gave the original “Rainbow” song an international R&B style.
2013 – Victor Olaiya ft TuFace on Baby Mi Da (Baby Jowo) Remix
In 2013, TuFace collaborated with Victor Olaiya on the Baby Mi Da (Baby Jowo) Remix. This collaboration bridged generations when you consider the legendary highlife style of Victor Olaiya with TuFace’s modern pop and R&B.
2013–2014 – Album The Ascension and Pan‑African Collaborations
Between 2013 and 2014, TuFace released The Ascension. This album included collaborations with Machel Montano, Vector, Bridget Kelly, Fally Ipupa, and Sir Victor Uwaifo. The album debuted at number 12 on the Billboard World Albums chart.
2013, 2014 – Omawumi’s Album Lasso of Truth, Wizkid on Dance Go (Eau de Vie)
Also in 2013, TuFace was featured on Omawumi’s album Lasso of Truth. His collaboration with a female Nigerian artist tells you he is not only about male collaborations.
In 2014, TuFace collaborated with Wizkid on a single called Dance Go (Eau de Vie).
Controversies & Public Feuds
“African Queen” was one of the biggest controversies in 2Baba’s career. The song, no doubt, was a massive hit and loved by many; it also caused a big argument with his former bandmate, Blackface Naija. Blackface claimed that he was the one who wrote the song back when they were in the Plantashun Boiz. Despite the “saga” over who wrote the song, “African Queen” has remained popular across Africa.
On December 1st, 2025, a viral video allegedly showed him being escorted by police in London following a disagreement with Natasha, which former manager Kaka Igbokwe later confirmed during a livestream.
Activism & Philanthropy
He started the 2Baba Foundation, which used to be known as the 2Face Reach-Out Foundation. This foundation helps people in need, supports young people, and improves education. In addition, 2Baba has worked with big companies like Airtel as a brand ambassador and has taken part in projects across Africa, such as the Sony All Africa One8 initiative.
2Baba also created his own record label called Hypertek Digital. By doing this, he was able to control his own music and make sure he could produce the songs he wanted. The label also became a place where he could teach younger artists to build their careers just like he did.
In March 2024, he ended a 20‑year professional relationship with management firm Now Muzik and moved under his own Hypertek Digital.
2Baba First & Second Marriages
Tuface was married to Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia. First, they had a private wedding in 2012, followed by a traditional ceremony in March 2013 and a huge wedding in Dubai on 23 March 2013.
Their marriage faced controversies and ended when Tuface announced their separation and divorce in January 2025. Reports said it was because of family disputes, infidelity and multiple baby mamas that contributed to the split, though exact reasons remain unverified.
